Did you know that State law will soon require all businesses with five or more employees to either offer a retirement savings vehicle from the private market or register for a state-sponsored retirement program called CalSavers? This becomes effective on July 1, 2019 and deadlines for employers to comply will roll out over a three year period based on the number of employees. CalSavers is one of many options, but what is it? What actions do you need to take as an employer?

Calsavers

Starting on July 1, 2019, the CalSavers Retirement Savings Program will be open to all eligible employers! Your employees will have access to a workplace retirement savings program without the administrative complexity, fees, or fiduciary liability of existing options (e.g. 401K) traditionally placed with employers.

CALCAP

The California Capital Access Program (CalCAP) for Small Business encourages banks and other financial institutions to make loans to small businesses that may have trouble obtaining financing. CalCAP is a loan loss reserve program that provides financing to businesses.

GO-BIZ

The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) offers a range of services to business owners including retention and expansion services, site selection, permit streamlining, clearing of regulatory hurdles, small business assistance, international trade development, assistance with state government, and much more.
