Founder Kenny Chang entered the insurance industry in 1984 and established KCAL in Hacienda Heights, steadily growing with branches in San Gabriel, Irvine, Diamond Bar, Cerritos, and Ontario. Today KCAL serves over 200,000 individual clients and nearly 10,000 businesses with commercial, workers' comp, group health, and related coverage.

Founder’s Story
Kenny Chang, CEO and Founder of KCAL Insurance Agency, immigrated from Taiwan to the United States in the early 1980s. He experienced significant challenges as a new immigrant, and decided then that he wanted to serve his community and make the immigrant experience easier for others.
Kenny pledged to help those in the Chinese community understand the importance of having insurance coverage and managing risk. He became an insurance agent in 1984 and then founded KCAL Insurance Agency (KCAL). KCAL has grown to become one of the largest minority-owned insurance agencies in Southern California. In 2019, Kenny was selected as one of “2019’s Most Influential Insurance Brokers” by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Kenny is passionate about giving back to the community. For the past 19 years, Kenny has been hosting his weekly radio show, “A Beautiful Life”, on local radio station AM 1300. His show helps the Chinese community in the Greater Los Angeles Area stay up-to-date on the latest developments in risk management and insurance. He also serves as a Board Member for the Industry Sheriffs Youth Activities League and as an Advisor to Hsi Lai Temple. Every year, Kenny also donates student scholarships and hosts free educational seminars on a wide range of topics including cybersecurity, identity theft prevention, active shooter preparedness, tax and labor law updates for business owners, health insurance for seniors and for individuals, and much more. In 2015, he also served as the Chairman of Host Town Hacienda Heights in the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games.
