U.S. citizens and permanent residents with green cards can apply for health insurance with federal subsidies. Premiums and subsidies are dependent on household size and annual household income. In 2020, the penalty for not having individual health insurance has returned. Open Enrollment Period is from October 15, 2019 to January 31, 2020 (the deadline has now been extended to August 31, 2020!), so contact our certified Covered California health insurance agents to see what plans are suitable for you! Get better benefits, lower premiums, and more subsidies!
If you are currently in the process of becoming a citizen (OPT, work visa, waiting for green card approval, etc.), do not have a Social Security Number (SSN), are not a U.S. citizen, or do not want to expose your income and/or citizenship status, you can choose to apply for health insurance without federal subsidies. Many of the most basic health plans are suitable for those under 30 years of age with premiums less than $100 per month.
Medicare is health insurance designed for individuals 65 years of age and older. The annual Open Enrollment Period is from October 15 -December 7. This is your opportunity to enroll, cancel, or change health plans.
