KCAL Offers Free Workplace Sexual Harassment Prevention Training

In 2019, several new California state laws came into effect. According to Gov. Code 12950.1 and 2 CCR 11024, employers with 5 or more employees are required to provide 1 hour of sexual harassment prevention training to non-managerial employees and 2 hours of sexual harassment prevention training to managerial employees. Both managerial and non-managerial employees must receive training by January 1, 2021. After that, employees must be retrained once every two years. Newly hired employees must complete the training within six months of their hire date. The company’s HR department should keep all employees’ certificates of completion on file.

Failure to provide sexual harassment prevention training to employees is not only a violation of the labor law, but if the company gets involved in a workplace sexual harassment lawsuit, the company will be put in a highly disadvantageous position.

With that being said, KCAL Insurance Agency has spent a lot of time, money, and effort into creating the best learning experience for their clients. The learning center has been produced by a team of professional experts, including partnering with highly respected law firms and attorneys to produce a user-friendly online platform learning center for KCAL clients. This training is not only interactive, but it also complies with the latest state regulations. Chinese subtitles are provided as an option to build a simpler experience for the community. KCAL offers training for both managerial and non-managerial employees.

On February 28, at the last seminar of KCAL’s 2019 Business Owners Seminar Series, President of KCAL Kenny Chang, announced that this free sexual harassment prevention training course was open for registration. He explained that this type of training could cost up to hundreds and thousands of dollars—training DVDs can reach up to $2,000, online training for non-supervisory employees range from $15-$25 per employee, and training for supervisory employees range from $30-$45 per supervisory employees.

KCAL has been serving the community for over 30 years, and will continue to do so to bring more awareness to sexual harassment prevention in the workplace and to help businesses stay out of trouble and avoid unnecessary lawsuits by providing important information and free educational and training resources for businesses.
