California adds patients to health insurance rolls
California now ranks second only to Pennsylvania with the highest number of enrollees in the temporary insurance plan. Despite a slow start, California's push to extend health coverage to those with preexisting medical conditions has enrolled more than 6,000 patients. To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens who have been uninsured for six months and have been denied coverage because of a preexisting condition. The program is scheduled to end in January 2014.
