Suspicious insurance claims rise 7 percent
According to a new report from the National Insurance Crime Bureau, insurance companies referred 7 percent more suspicious insurance claims to fraud investigators during the first three quarters of this year compared to the same period in 2010. The National Insurance Crime Bureau tracks questionable claims referred by its more than 1,110 member insurance companies and self-insured organizations. Compared to 70,295 reported questionable claims in the first three quarters of last year, 74,944 were reported this year during the same period.
