Group reminds holiday party hosts to play it safe
Different states have different liability laws, but in most states, the one who served alcohol will be held liable for any related consequences. At the beginning of a holiday season, party hosts who serve alcohol should take measures to limit their liquor liability and make sure proper insurance is in place. The Insurance Information Institute (III) recommends the following steps to go:
1. Holding parties at venues that have liquor licenses.
2. Hiring a professional bartender.
3. Serving non-alcoholic beverages and food.
4. Encouraging guests to choose designated drivers and wear their safety belts.
