Black Friday Brings Out the Risk Grinch

The Black Friday holiday madness draws growing fears of ravenous gift-seeking crowds for people in the insurance industry. Much of the concern over Black Friday safety harkens back to 2008, when a worker was trampled to death while a mob of shoppers rushed through the doors of a large store to take advantage of an after-Thanksgiving Day sales event. The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued a memo earlier this month encouraging major retail employers to take precautions to prevent worker injuries during Black Friday.
