Teen crash risk sky high in first month of unsupervised driving
According to a study from AAA Foundation, teen drivers are about 50 percent more likely to crash in the first month of driving on their own than after the first year behind the wheel. In analyzing new driver crash data in North Carolina, researchers found that three mistakes accounted for 57 percent of all crashes:failure to slow down, inattention and failure to yield. Some other types of crashes appear to result from a failure to master certain driving skills rather than from a lack of understanding, researchers concluded.
