Premiums for employer-provided health insurance jump

A national survey shows that the price of health insurance provided by employers for families increased by 9% over 2010. Although employers picked up most of the cost, employees still struggle to the rising share. It becomes a major contention between employers and employeess over how to split the costs. Insurance industry leaders blame the rising premiums on an aging and sicker insurance pool and on the escalating costs for medical care, pharmaceuticals and other healthcare expenses. Some experts predict that health expenses for U.S. employers will slow next year.
