Expats in China to pay social insurance from Oct 15
From Oct 15, foreigners working in China will be required to pay social insurance, making them eligible for benefits. Currently, foreign workers are covered by commercial insurance purchased by themselves or their employers. The system may benefit those without coverage and who are willing to be treated in the mainland's health-care system. There were concerns that the new move could lead to a decrease in the number of foreign workers in the long term.
