Irene insurance losses estimated at $5.5B
Hurricane Irene, which struck the East Coast late last month, could cost insurers up to $5.5 billion, according to the latest estimate from a disaster-modeling company,Risk Management Solutions Inc.. They said Irene caused insured losses of $2 billion to $4.5 billion in the U.S. and $500 million to $1 billion in the Caribbean.
