Medicare guidance is here
People have long complained that doctors have either dropped out of the program or are no longer accepting new Medicare patients into their practice. If you're having a hard time finding a doctor who accepts Medicare, there are resources available to help you. For starters, check out the Physician Compare tool on Medicare.gov by going to the "Facilities and Doctors" tab on the home page and clicking on "Find a Doctor." There you can search for providers by specialty type and ZIP Code. Just be sure to call the doctor's office to confirm that he or she is accepting Medicare patients regardless of what you see on the website. If you don't have Internet access or just prefer to talk to a human, you can also call (800) MEDICARE to get the same information from a representative.
