Child-only health insurance policies to be sold for 6 weeks
Iowa health insurers will resume selling children individual policies, but it only will last for six weeks. This is in response to the sudden drop in sales due to compliance of the new healthcare reform. Against the original will of making it easier for families to find coverage for their children, this reform ended up by insurers across the country quit selling the policies together. The Iowa regulators reached an agreement with the health insurers that Iowa families can purchase child-only policies from July 1 through Aug.14. Child-only policies are sold to parents whose employers'coverage doesn't include family policies. Under this new agreement, health insurers may still consider a child's pre-condition when quoting but they may not deny coverage.
